We are Hormonal – Yes us Women!

READ TIME: 12 min

Ah, hormones. Those little chemicals that can make us laugh, cry, or want to punch someone in the face. And let's be real, when it comes to women, hormone imbalances can make life... interesting. So, let's take a hilarious look at the ways hormonal imbalances can wreak havoc on our bodies and our lives.

First up, PMS. That magical time of the month when our hormones turn us into emotional tornadoes. One minute we're happy as clams, the next we're sobbing over a Hallmark commercial. And don't even get me started on the cravings. Suddenly, nothing will do but a bag of chips, a pint of ice cream, and a jar of pickles (not necessarily in that order). And God forbid anyone gets in our way.

But it's not just our moods that are affected. Hormone imbalances can also wreak havoc on our bodies in some pretty bizarre ways. Like the time my boobs decided to have a growth spurt overnight. Seriously, I woke up one morning and suddenly had a rack that would make Dolly Parton jealous. And the back pain? Oof. I felt like I was carrying around two bowling balls all day.

And then there's the bloating. Sweet Jesus, the bloating. It's like my body is trying to hold onto every drop of water in my system, and my stomach turns into a balloon. I'm pretty sure I could float away if someone accidentally let go of me.

But it's not just PMS that can wreak havoc on our hormones. Pregnancy is a whole other ballgame. For starters, the nausea. Oh, the nausea. It's like someone slipped me a mickey and I can't shake the feeling. And then there's the fatigue. Suddenly, taking a nap in the middle of the day seems like the most glorious thing in the world.

But the real fun starts when the baby arrives. Because that's when our hormones go into overdrive. Suddenly, we're crying over diaper commercials and worrying about whether we're doing everything wrong. And let's not forget about the postpartum hair loss. I swear, I shed more than my dog.

And then there's menopause. Oh boy, menopause. It's like someone flipped a switch and suddenly my body was like, "Nah, I don't feel like doing that anymore." Suddenly, I'm hot all the time, I can't sleep, and my sex drive is MIA. It's like my hormones are staging a mutiny and I'm just along for the ride.

But the best part of hormonal imbalances? The way they can make us completely irrational. Like the time I cried because my husband ate the last slice of pizza. Or the time I threw a fit because the dog wouldn't stop barking. It's like my brain shuts off and my hormones take over, and there's no reasoning with me.

But in all seriousness, hormone imbalances can be a real pain in the ass. They can make us feel like we're losing our minds and our bodies are betraying us. But the good news is that there are things we can do to help balance out our hormones and minimize their effects. Eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and practicing stress-reducing techniques like meditation and yoga can all go a long way towards supporting hormonal health.

And if all else fails, there's always humor. Because sometimes, all we can do is laugh at the absurdity of it all. So, ladies, here's to our crazy, wonderful bodies and the hormonal rollercoaster we're all riding. May we never lose our sense of humor (or our appetite for pickles).
